start your own

Leave a hello of your own.

The caterpillar draws most of the cards, but anyone can leave one. You don't need to be an artist — a card, a pen and one kind sentence is enough.
how

Four small steps.

  1. 01

Grab a card and a pen

Any postcard, index card or scrap of nice paper works. Ten quiet minutes is plenty.

  2. 02

Write what you’d want to find

Think of a bad day you’ve had. Name the hard part first, then offer a little hope. A doodle counts too.

  3. 03

    Leave it somewhere unexpected

A study-room table, a library shelf, a café counter — anywhere it’s allowed and easy to spot.

  4. 04

    Walk away

No name, no follow-up. The person who finds it doesn’t owe you anything. That’s the whole point.

what to write

Kind, not preachy.

Skip “just smile” — it can make a bad day feel worse. Admit things can be hard, then leave a little light. Some that work:

Everyone goes through hard things. You’ll figure this out.
It’s okay not to have it all figured out yet.
Whatever today was, you got through it.

Please leave cards only where it's allowed — respect campus posting rules, never on cars, doors or anyone's things. Printable card templates are on their way.

help the project

Keep the cards coming.

The Shy Caterpillar runs on borrowed printers, spare change and campus goodwill. If you'd like to help — or start a chapter somewhere else — say hi.
